Book Leaf Banner (Plus A Giveaway)Updated
I posted this image this morning on Instagram
I was mid-project when I snapped it, and because I am a bit of an Instgram junkie I couldn’t help but share it. It turns out I am much more of a visual person than I ever knew.
After sharing that image, and then this one
If you’ve been reading my blog for the last 3 years one thing you already know is that I am not a craft blogger. I typically stink at crafts, so I am comfortable with not trying to become a DIY blogger.
This post here is a rarity, so if you’re not into crafts at all, hang with me and don’t unsubscribe just yet–I promise, I am not going there--often
Here’s what you’ll need to make this ridiculously easy and super festive leaf banner:
- Leaves (we collected real leaves last night at the park, but fake would probably work just as well)
- Mod Podge glue (matte or glossy finish, I used matte because that’s what I had)
- Discarded book
- Jute twine
- Paintbrush for the glue
- Hole punch
Tear a handful of pages out of the discarded book. (as many as you want your banner long, or for as many leaves as you have)
Cut a triangle out of the bottom of each page (see image above)
Glue a leaf to each page by applying glue to the back of the leaf. Once the leaf has been placed on the page, apply glue to the front of it as well. (Mod Podge dries clear, so don’t freak out.)
Set each glues leaf page aside until the glue dries.
After the glue has dried, punch two holes in the top of each leaf page.
Unwind a bit of jute twine from your roll and start stringing those pages. I did not cut my twine from the roll until I had placed all of my pages on, since I didn’t know how long it would be. If you’re into measuring things (which I’m clearly not) then you can measure your pages and twine ahead of time, honestly–that just takes too long.
Now, hang that lovely leaf banner, take a picture of it and tag me on Instagram or twitter (@kriscamealy)
Giveaway (now ended)
Congratulations Karrilee on winning the banner!
I had some extra pages and twine leftover so I made another one. I have a couple of other giveaways planned this month as part of my series on creativity, but today, I’m giving away ONE of these lovely leaf banners.
