Five Minute Friday

Delight

February 17, 2012

He will take great delight in you;

in his love he will no longer rebuke you,

but will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephania 3:17

I’ve been thinking a lot these days about this scripture. When I saw the prompt today, Delight, this is the first thing that came to mind. This scripture followed by the words of Psalm 1, …”but His delight is in the law of the Lord, and on this law he meditates day and night-”

I think I live in a place in between the dessert and the meadows. I sojourn over hills and through forests of life forgetting that I should delight in the Lord, and even more I forget that He delights in me.

I don’t often feel worthy of being delighted over. I know the stuff that swirls ugly in my heart and I am slayed again and again by the words in Zephania. And I have to challenge myself daily to let those words sink in. He rejoices over me. He rejoices over you. He loves to love us. When I think about this, I cannot help but delight in Him, because He is abundantly good and giving, always.

This morning, I’m afraid I ramble. the words Coming slow and thick and jumbled. I take away one thing in this moment and if you have stopped here today, I pray this is your take-away as well, the Father rejoices over you. He delights in you, even when you feel unworthy of His grace, He loves anyway. Delight in His words, and meditate on them, and be like the tree that does not wither. Watch how He prospers you because you believe in His goodness above all else.

Stop.

Oh, my! A God-incidence? I just drifted to Psalm 1 yesterday and posted about it. Beautiful truth from it you have put here. Thank you for it!

I love this… “I know the stuff that swirls ugly in my heart and I am slayed again and again by the words in Zephania. ” I am overwhelmed at the thought… that even though no ugly part of my soul is hidden from Him… He still sees me and rejoices… Thank you for sharing!

I can relate to your feelings here. I find it hard to receive the delight from others, from God. Thought of the verse in Zephaniah too in my post.

It’s a beautiful verse. I noticed quite a few of us used it today 😉

Oh, I love this. Sometimes I feel convicted that I’m not ‘delighting’ in Him enough as I get sidetracked by so many earthly distractions, and I easily forget that He actually delights in me! So amazing. I love that passage in Zephaniah!

I know this place, Kris, of self-doubt and feeling of being unworthy.  (Yes, I am unworthy, and oh, to believe, to trust, to have that faith that He loves me anyway!  It takes my breath away.)  This verse just rocks my world.  Always.  Amazing.  Thank you for your fighting for our hearts, with Him, here.  So grateful!

Oh, this is me, too: “I don’t often feel worthy of being delighted over.” Yet He still choosing to delight in broken me. Such encouragement!

It is encouraging! Every single time I read that scripture I am moved by it. Every time.

The “I don’t often feel worthy of being delighted over”….yes, that resonates. It really is so hard to wrap our minds around the fact that He DOES…when sometimes all we see are the things we need to fix, and broken, the selfishness, and the falling short.

I’m thankful that when He sees me, the blood covers. So grateful for that saving grace!

The words weren’t jumbled…in fact, I think the reminder you brought brings more clarity and a deep breath to the soul tired from sojourning over the hills you mentioned. Love it. 🙂

I often wonder why God would delight in me.  But I forget that He created me, loved me before the foundations of the world, and delights in me.  Accepting His grace today and relishing in the fact that He delights in me.

    • Reply alwaysalleluia February 18, 2012 at 7:46 am

Yes, Barbie. Why do we find it so unlikely that He would delight in His creation? Let’s bask in it today, trusting that His love is REAL and pure and faithful, and that we are worthy in Hs eyes to be delighted in.
