Rejoice Always

“Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day.”
― Henri J.M. Nouwen

“Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song.”
― John Paul II

Weekend Reads

  • There is a listening that has nothing to do with my ear, and that is why I open sandy eyes and lace up stubborn sneakers and kick pebbles down the lane. Within you, Jesus said, is the location of the Kingdom. And from out of the deepest part of the heart flow the springs of truest life. {Read THIS beautiful post from my pal, Kelli.}
  • Looking for a few good Christian blogs? My friend Anita made a list of the 100 Most Popular Christian blogs (according to Facebook “likes”) Though this was published in April, I didn’t see it until it was brought to my attention this week. Check out number 76 😉 Seriously, there are some really great writers named there, it’s an honor to be among them.
  • And I realize this isn’t about magic ingredients. It’s about art. Art shaped into a masterpiece by an experienced sculptor. Beauty we’ll behold warm on our laps, in a melting pool of vanilla, when the cheeks of the golden orb smile on the lake coloring it orange. {Shelly Miller tells beautiful, tender stories, and THIS ONE–it’s magnificent.}
  • When a thin girl speaks of her love of bread and wine, chocolate, and the heady scent of basil and tomatoes and a good pasta, she is a foodie. Cultured and sophisticated, with tastes and appreciation for the good things in life. When a fat girl speaks of food, and most of us have learned not to, she is weak and sinful. A glutton. Entangled by her appetites and flesh, too much flesh. {My friend Alia Joy is radiant. Her honest words in THIS POST speak to me, and my own struggle to find balance.}

    Congrats on making the Top 100 list, Kris! 🙂 Praying for you as you continue to work and write for His glory.

    (and that photograph is absolutely radiant!)
